At Ena Salon in London, our team of experienced hairdressers, creative stylists, colourists, technicians, therapists, receptionists and hard working apprentices are the heart and soul of our salon. Here you can read a little bit more about our backgrounds, aspirations and journeys so far…
Nino Bartolo – Creative Stylist
Born and raised in Macau, of Portuguese descent, I began my hairdressing career winning various competitions within Asia. I spent a year working in Stockholm before moving to London to join Vidal Sassoon in 2004 for five years. Within this time I developed as a creative stylist and I also created work for established international magazines and popular fashion videos.
I am a very passionate and dedicated person and I value creating a look that can be either contemporary or classic depending on my clients needs. My main inspirations that influence me include architecture and old movies.
“Trend is influence, Suitability is key”
Yohan Nicolas – Master Stylist / Senior Colour Technician
My family would describe me as an outgoing and curious person who is always reaching out to meet new people and explore the world. My friends on the other hand, would describe me as a fun, charming and “pretty”.
In 2006 I moved to the UK from a small village in the south of France in aim of furthering my career and becoming as good as I could possibly be. After 11 years in the industry and having been taught by some of the strongest cutting and hair colourists, I thoroughly enjoy fulfilling my clients needs as well as passing on my knowledge to the new generation.
I would like to see as much of the world as possible therefore when I am not in the salon I am often travelling and learning from different cultures.
Adele Heathcote – Apprentice
Hiya, my name’s Adele and I am an assistant at Ena Salon. From an early age I have always had a passionate interest in the world of hairdressing. I have now been in the industry for just over 4 years. Initially I trained as an apprentice at Avant Garde, a small well-run salon in an East Midlands town. Having gained my qualifications spending a short time as a junior stylist I then decided to move to London. I did this so I could further develop my skills and broaden my knowledge by working in a busy London salon.
Ena has given me the opportunity to work as part of a committed and creative team, working alongside stylists and assistants.
Kate Hussey – Senior Stylist
From an early age I developed a passion for all things creative and artistic. At school I feel I excelled in the practical subjects of art and textiles, continually generating exciting and original pieces of work. This creative mind set led me to develop a curiosity for the art of hairdressing.
Having recently spent time travelling to some fascinating places around the world, I have been so inspired by different cultures. These life experiences have led me to Ena Salon as I feel it is the perfect place for me to further my creativity. I now hope to not only be inspired, but to myself inspire, teach and encourage others to reach their highest ability in the profession.
Pedro Inchenko – Director
As a child, my goal in life was to be one of three things, a racing car driver, a chef or a hairdresser. And so at the tender age of 16 I started off my hairdressing career at Vidal Sassoon. By the age of 18 I was to become the youngest ever teacher in the Vidal Sassoon London Schools, and so my career began to evolve.
From teacher, to Head Of Diploma, and eventually to Principle of the Advanced Academy, I soon realized that, after 12 years at Vidal Sassoon, what I wanted more than to become a hairdresser was to own my own salon in the centre of London alongside my best friend and business partner Johnny.
Today my dream has become a reality. Welcome to Ena Salon.
Johnny Othona – Director
I began my career at 15 and through my training I was fortunate enough to be taught and inspired by many amazing and talented individuals, who within their own rights are renowned within our industry.
At the age of 19, I qualified as a stylist and was transferred into the Vidal Sassoon salon in Covent Garden, working on the salon floor building a reputation as a potential prodigy within the company.
My goal was to become a “creative director” before the age of 23, which I was fortunate enough to achieve.
My passion is to educate and bring out strengths in others by developing, nurturing and supervising the staff within the company, training future stylist and teachers.
Finally in 2007, after eleven loyal years at Vidal Sassoon and after gaining intensive knowledge of the industry, meeting some of the most influential people and experiencing diverse cultures, I decided to follow my dream by forming a partnership with my best friend, Pedro Inchenko, whom I met on my journey.
Together we share the same dream to make a difference in our industry.
Christa Losiel – Top stylist/Senior colour technician
Hey, my name’s Christa and I’m an award winning stylist and colour technician. I have over 12 years experience in leading salons both in New Zealand and London. Over the years I have travelled throughout Europe and Australasia teaching the art of Colour for a number of international colour brands.
Those who know me know that I am hugely passionate about my career. I take great pride in providing a premium yet fun and friendly service to meet all my clients’ specific needs. I don’t just like what I do for a living; I love it. I believe this passion has led me to where I am today, at a great salon, working with a great team and with a wide and loyal client base.
Lindsey Smith – Senior Stylist / senior colour technician (Assistant manager)
Hi, I’m Lindsey and currently the assistant manager at Ena salon. I have been a hairdresser in central London for just over 12 years and offer both haircut and colour services. I feel passionate about making people look and feel great when they leave the salon and believe that my ability to really listen and accommodate my clients needs, is what enables me to have such a loyal clientele. Working alongside an amazing team of like-minded people, where we can constantly share ideas and learn from each other inspires me to further my creative skills.
Maria – Beauty Director
I began my career at the age of 16 at Michael John Hair and Beauty of Mayfair. Working in such a busy London salon and surrounded by extremely talented Hair Stylists and Beauty Therapists helped me combine the two professions together. I continued my career working in various salons around London including Errol Douglas, Charles Worthington and Hari’s.
After building up a loyal clientele, I spent the past few years working freelance and gained some incredibly amazing experiences including being flown to various parts of the world to simply smooth tresses and polish nails for the rich and famous. “It’s a hard life” as they say! More recently I have worked on commercials and photo shoots for magazines and news papers including Maria Claire, Red, Glamour, Tatler, The Daily Telegraph and many more.
Woody – Stylist
Hi my name is woody, I am 26 years old and currently working as a stylist at ena salon. I moved to London in 2004 to start my career as a hairdresser. In 2007 I enrolled onto the diploma course at Vidal Sassoon and soon after graduating I found myself a job in an up and coming independent salon in London. After working for only a short while I was given the opportunity to assist on a photo shoot for a world-renowned product company in Berlin. It was fantastic to see the work that goes on behind the scenes of a photo shoot. I love being a hairdresser because there are so many aspects to the industry. I am especially confident within our creative team at ena salon because everyone has the same determination and strive to be the best at what we do.
Harriet Blackburn – Top Stylist / Colour Technician
My name is Harriet and I am a top stylist at Ena salon. Due to it being a passion from a very young age, hairdressing was my immediate career choice. I originally trained at Vidal Sassoon and went on to work at an independent salon in Hertfordshire for four years. I left there in pursuit of more training and the opportunity to hone my skills as a cutter.
Being at Ena has enabled me to be around creative people from whom I can learn on a daily basis.
I like to think the future will hold the opportunity for me to take part in shows in various corners of the globe and thus allow me to pass on the knowledge & virtues I have been fortunate enough to learn whilst working at Ena.
I see hairdressing not only as a profession but as an art form where inspiration can be drawn from all design fields to create a structured, yet organic end product.
Samuel Ryde – Senior Stylist
Originally from Cardiff, I moved to London 7 years ago and instantly enrolled onto the Vidal Sassoon Diploma course.
Having been a personal shopper and gaining experience at various events and magazines it became obvious to me that hair was the only thing I wanted to do.
Through hair I can quench all my thirsts; music, photography, fashion and friendship. All these things are important in my life and hair allows me to engage fully in each.
Jay Mahmood – Creative Stylist
My job for the last few years has been teaching and sharing my knowledge and experience with Hairdresser’s around the world. When I am not traveling or teaching, I work at Ena salon where I serve my clientele.
My hairdressing career began at Vidal Sassoon in 2000 and at the tender age of 16. After a 3 year apprenticeship, I qualified and went on to become a Senior Stylist in the salons. My passion was always to share with others and so at the age of 21, I joined the academies and went on to become a Senior Teacher, which involved running an academy in London.
After 11 amazing years, it was time to grow further and in January 2011 I was appointed UK Principal of Allilon Education.
Allilon appealed to me as it is a young, ambitious and exciting brand that is forward thinking and not afraid to push the boundaries of creativity. Like myself, I would describe Allilon as a free spirit!
I feel very fortunate to work with and be surrounded by such a talented team who constantly inspire me to be the best I can be.
Jonathan Corby – Master Stylist
Whist studying architecture at the age of 17 in my hometown of Lincoln, I discovered that I had a passion for using my hands and in particular, drawing. With the introduction of Computer Aided Design, Architecture became less about free hand drawing and more about the advance of technology. This factor led me to a change in career and so I soon found myself taking an interest in the philosophy behind hairdressing.
In 2002, I enrolled in a two year apprenticeship in one of Lincoln’s busy hair salons. After learning about Vidal Sassoon’s philosophy I decided to move to London and retrain with the elite. Whist at Sassoon’s I was taught and inspired by Johnny Othona, a teacher, whom I found not only inspirational but exceptionally passionate about his craft. After 5 years as a busy stylist at Vidal Sassoon’s of Sloane Street and after achieving the role of assistant art director, I decided to go in search of my mentor in order to further my career and seek new experiences.
In 2010, I located Johnny Othona at Ena Salon and was offered the opportunity to work alongside him within Ena’s education company, Allilon. My first task involved relocating to Switzerland for three months whereby I helped launch Allilon’s Swiss academy as well as teaching all the salon staff. Today I spend my time teaching the staff at Ena Salon and supporting the team on education courses, as well as servicing clients.
For the short time that I have been working for Ena & Allilon, my passion for my craft has been reignited. Not only am I surrounded by a beautiful environment with endless opportunities, but also I am surrounded by a great team of people who all love what they do and inspire me to be the best I can be.
Ben Harrison – Apprentice
From an early age I have had a flair for fashion and design.
Whilst studying for my fashion diploma, a hairdresser within the family inspired me to be creative and introduced me to the art of technical hair design. I was excited at the possibility as to how boundaries can be pushed to any limit. I instantly became fascinated. After studying at the London College of Fashion, I traveled across various countries, including Australia, Vietnam and North America to experience a wide range of different cultures. During my time in Australia I was fortunate enough to work in a highly respected salon in Sydney, which confirmed my interest in forging a permanent career in the hairdressing industry.
I was determined to learn from the best so when I returned to London I contacted Johnny and Pedro at Ena hair salon. I have been a part of the Ena Team now for 5 months and am enjoying every moment of it.
Georgia Charalambous – Front of House
I was born in London, then moved to Cyprus with my family, where I lived and went to school for 5 years before coming back home.
I have a passion for Art, which I have studied and continue to enjoy in my spare time. As a style enthusiast, I love everything and anything funky and original. One of the best aspects of my job is that I get to enjoy, being with and around people.
As the newest member of the Ena Salon Family, I am really excited about the future challenges, experiences and opportunities which will come my way! I am the first person you see on coming through the doors at Ena and it brings me pleasure to welcome and assist you with a smile.
James Mould – Head Apprentice
My name is James and I am the Head Junior at Ena Salon. I began my hairdressing career at the Vidal Sassoon Academy, London, on 3rd May 2010. Whilst studying here I feel I gained a strong knowledge of the basic shapes and techniques. I graduated on the 2nd December 2010 and was awarded ‘Best Student’ and ‘Best Haircut’ at my graduation soiree.
My journey at Ena began on 4th January 2011. Here at Ena, I believe I am surrounded by a team of limitless people who have a great deal of passion and commitment for what they do. By being a part of this team and dedicating myself to the craft; I believe I am in the best place… with the best people… who can give me the guidance to be the best I can be.
“Never set your standards based on the achievements of others, be the best you can be”.
Evie Skaros – Apprentice
At an early age I wanted to be one of two things, a ballet dancer or hairdresser when I was 15 I started work in a local salon and it soon became apparent that I wanted to do hair and be in a bigger place like London. I left school and started my hairdressing career in a salon in Mayfair. After a year and a half I moved on to Ena, where I am learning a lot more.
I’m now training to be a colour technician. One day I would like to be able to teach people to past on all of what I have learned to the next generation.
I have not been at Ena for long but already it feels like home and somewhere I will be for along time to further my education and understanding of hair.
Georgina O’Neil – Apprentice
Shy with no confidence is what people would have described me as before I started work for ENA, despite only joining ENA at the end of June you would have thought I was a different person to how I use to be. My dream is to become both a colour and style director and the whole of the ENA team are helping me to achieve this. My ambition is to be the best hair stylist I can be but my aim is to ensure that in my future my clients have the full experience of enjoying the service I offer.
Madeleine Murphy – Colour Director
Whilst studying for my a-levels and art foundation course at 6th form college I was working as a junior Assistant in a north London salon. This is where I discovered my passion for colour and the science of hair. This inspired me to further my knowledge so I enrolled in the Vidal Sassoon diploma course, where I went on to win ‘best student ‘ and ‘best colour’ throughout the stages. After completing the course I joined Vidal Sassoon staff training and went on to become part of the team in the Nottingham salon for 2 years. Where I completed my creative test.
I have been part of the Ena team since August and I am really enjoying the wonderful opportunity I have been given here. There is a chance for me to grow in my career and as a person. Part of my role is to work alongside the education team, on collections, photo shoots and teaching the younger generation at Ena who are interested in specialising in colour. These responsibilities give me the chance to get involved in the creative side, which is one of my favorite aspects of hair.
